TOM MIX STERLING SILVER SADDLE. MGM
This spectacular saddle is sterling silver beautifully hand engraved. It comes with catalog and receipt from the 1970 auction. The provenance as being purchased at the David Weisz Auction in 1970. The sale was marketed as” Public AUCTION of the Countless Treasures Acquired from MGM, Metro Goldwyn Mayer”. The sale was located in Beverly Hills, CA at the studios. The studio was having an auction to liquidate a large portion of its old, antique, and vintage movie props. The consignor states that her father bought the saddle and other props. He had his brother drive out to California to go to the auction to buy and bring back lots to Pennsylvania. She also states that this particular saddle was used by a well-known movie star from the period of silent film and early films from the early period of Hollywood. His name was Tom Mix. He was considered the first western movie star he was born in Pennsylvania in 1880. He appeared in over 291 movies from 1909-1935 all but nine were silent films. Saddle was located in the family barn for about 50 years. Cleaned it up a bit, there are 2 pieces of silver missing on each fender. The seat measures 15 inches. A true piece of Western history. P.O.R

Cabinet card photo Seth Bullock Sheriff of Deadwood South Dakota. Seth Bullock is the only stabilizing force standing in the way of utter chaos. The day after Hickok was killed Bullock was hired to be sheriff. He was Deadwood’s first sheriff. When appointed sheriff, one of Bullock’s first duties was to confront Dodge City Deputy Marshal Wyatt Earp, who was possibly interested in the sheriff’s job. Bullock told Earp that his services were not needed. A week later Earp left Deadwood to return to Dodge City Kansas. P.O.R
