The studio was having an auction to liquidate a large portion of it’s old, antique, and vintage movie props. The consignor states that her father bought the saddle and other props. He had his brother drive out to California to go to the auction to buy and bring back lots to Pennsylvania. She also states that this particular saddle was used by a well-known movie star from the period of silent film and early films from the early period of Hollywood. His name was Tom Mix. He was considered the first western movie star he was born in Pennsylvania in 1880. He appeared in over 291 movies from 1909-1935 all but nine were silent films.
