RARE VINTAGE OLD WEST FOUR COLOR TRICK SADDLE STAMPED MOSS CHANUTE.
The unusual example of a trick saddle is mounted with the traditional straight, elevated nickel horn on sheepskin-covered pommel, the quilted horsehide seat with padding, deep carved tooling of red flowers among green foliates against a stippled ground, sheepskin jockey front of the leather vault hand holds, stamped MOSS SADDLE CO MAKER CHANUTE, KANS. Measures 13 inches from the gullet to the stitching on the cantle. Trick saddles were used in Buffalo Bills and other western performers shows. $15k
The deeply carved floral tooled leather saddle is embellished in metal mounts throughout and has personalized initials carved back side of the cantle, the maker’s mark is stamped on the seat, each tapadero bears a Saddle and Sirloin medallion. TOM MIX STERLING SILVER SADDLE. MGM
This spectacular saddle is sterling silver beautifully hand engraved. It comes with catalog and receipt from the 1970 auction. The provenance as being purchased at the David Weisz Auction in 1970. The sale was marketed as ”Public AUCTION of the Countless Treasures Acquired from MGM, Metro Goldwyn Mayer”. The sale was located in Beverly Hills, CA at the studios. The studio was having an auction to liquidate a large portion of its old, antique, and vintage movie props. The consignor states that her father bought the saddle and other props. He had his brother drive out to California to go to the auction to buy and bring back lots to Pennsylvania. She also states that this particular saddle was used by a well-known movie star from the period of silent film and early films from the early period of Hollywood. His name was Tom Mix. He was considered the first western movie star he was born in Pennsylvania in 1880. He appeared in over 291 movies from 1909-1935 all but nine were silent films. Saddle was located in the family barn for about 50 years. Cleaned it up a bit, there are 2 pieces of silver missing on each fender. The seat measures 15 inches. A true piece of Western history. P.O.R

This amazing photo image is only the second positively documented, analyzed photographic image of Billy the Kid, as well as the only known group image known to include BTK. Possessing meticulous and irrefutable Texas/New Mexico Anderson family provenance dating back three generations. As well as 101 years of continuous Anderson family possession and safekeeping. The subject photograph being the only as yet unearthed group image of BTK, positively established through both scientific and forensic study, and even more importantly, crucial and continuous Anderson family chain of provenance dating back from the present day, back to 1918, when Tomas Anderson SR, received the photo directly, and with positive affirmation of identification of it containing Billy the Kid. Coming from and given to Anderson’s grandfather by the widow of David Lawrence Anderson, grandfather 2nd Cousin Billy Wilson, who rode with and befriended BTK during the Lincoln County War, and who was thought to have been given the photo to hold as safekeeping prior to BTK’S 1881 murder.
