A true Confederate fighting knife. The brass guard is made to hook the blade and jerk it out of hands of the solider. The handle is made extra strong with iron and brass. If hit the handle would not break. This knife was especially made for close combat fighting. The large blade measures 9 inches long and overall measures 13 inches long. Civil war 1858 Remington revolver. Likely captured early in the war. Taken back to the Richmond Va, Armory and stamped Richmond VA on top of the barrel and C.S.A on side of frame. Serial number 3 on the frame and butt of back strap. If you are familiar with the stampings of Confederate Revolvers you will know these stampings are from the Richmond Va, Armory.
